Le Fort Fractures


  • May Involve the maxilla and any or all other bones of the midface
  • Maxillary fractures are the least common type of facial fracture
  • May be associated with profuse nasopharyngeal bleeding
  • Le Fort  I - Separates the maxillary alveolus at the lower margin of the piriform aperture & extends through the maxillary sinus
  • Le Fort II - Separates a pyramid shaped segment of midface from the upper craniofacial structures
  • Le Fort III - Craniofacial disjunction
